Questions about G3D.AI and generative 3D

For the former project’s documented claims, begin with the G3D.AI Jedi archive. For the tools available on this site today, use the 3D asset production workbench.

What is G3D.AI today?

G3D.AI is an independent educational publication and practical field guide for generative 3D in game production. It is not the original G3D.AI {Jedi} beta service.

What was G3D.AI {Jedi}?

The archived 2022–2024 site described a planned suite for 3D asset creation, level design, gameplay mechanics and narratives driven by text prompts.

What is generative 3D?

Generative 3D uses learned or algorithmic systems to create or transform spatial content from text, images, video, sketches or structured rules. The result may be a mesh, point cloud, neural field, Gaussian splat, material or scene.

Can I generate a 3D model on this site?

No production model-generation service is claimed here. The workbench provides planning and validation utilities; articles explain how to evaluate external or internal generation systems.

Why are /text-to-3d and /image-to-3d separate?

They represent genuinely different inputs. /text-to-3d covers natural-language briefs and prompt control; /image-to-3d covers visual reconstruction, coverage and ambiguity.

Which 3D representation should a game use?

Choose by the job. Editable, collidable and animated objects usually favor meshes. Captured backgrounds may suit neural fields or Gaussian splats when the target runtime supports them. Test the lowest target device.

Does AI produce game-ready assets?

Sometimes, for a specific asset class and target. Every output still needs explicit visual, technical, legal and in-engine acceptance checks.

How should AI 3D tools be compared?

Give each tool the same representative briefs and score exported assets by accepted-asset rate, cleanup time, control, export reliability, rights, privacy and total production cost.

What provenance should be stored with an AI-assisted asset?

Keep the authorized inputs, source rights, tool and model version, date, operator, prompts where appropriate, human edits, approvals and a final file identifier or hash.

Is this legal advice?

No. Rights and provenance material is educational; use qualified counsel for decisions tied to a release or dispute.

How are articles created?

The Research Desk uses primary technical documentation, structured editorial review and AI-assisted production. Each article is scoped, sourced and reviewed for distinct user value.

Do you publish one page for every keyword?

No. Closely related questions are consolidated into comprehensive guides and navigable hubs to avoid doorway and scaled-content patterns.
